The Museum Display Cases must Meet Several Requirements in Order to Become Qualified Protective Facilities for Cultural Relics

Throughout the long course of human history, numerous cultural relics have been left behind, which represent the artistic, technological, and industrial achievements of a certain period during the development of society. As such, these cultural relics possess specific viewing and research values, and can contribute to the global development and inheritance of historical culture. In modern society, people increasingly emphasize the development of the cultural industry, and exhibition activities of cultural relics are more frequent than ever before. Due to their rarity and vulnerability to threats from the environment and human activities, such as corrosion and theft, museum display cases, as the most direct carrier of cultural relics, must meet certain requirements in order to become qualified protective facilities for cultural relics.

1.Requirements for temperature and humidity
Certain cultural relics are sensitive to temperature and humidity, and they can have obvious reactions when exposed to negative effects. For example, "bronze disease" is a chemical reaction that occurs between oxygen, water, and bronze artifacts when they are unearthed, forming layers of corrosion with different colors. Without control, the damage to the relics will continue to deepen. After professional restoration, it is essential to ensure that the bronze relics are exhibited in their best condition for an extended period, and one of the essential requirements is to maintain the temperature and humidity inside the museum display cases at a suitable level for preserving bronze relics. Based on the preservation requirements of cultural relics, DG display showcases have customized a series of professional museum display cases equipped with constant temperature and humidity control systems. These systems ensure that the temperature and humidity inside the museum display cases are maintained at a suitable and stable level, preventing the relics from being damaged during the exhibition period while ensuring the airtightness of the space.

2.Requirements for lighting
In addition to temperature and humidity, lighting is also an important factor affecting the preservation of cultural relics, especially for organic materials and cultural relics. There are typically two types of lighting:natural (sun) light and artificial light, but either lighting  may have a negative impact on cultural relics, with the extent of damage being comparable to that caused by inappropriate temperature and humidity levels. Effective measures must therefore be taken to address threats from both types of lighting. Firstly, natural light is the most challenging to control since it shines onto the cultural relics from outside the display case. A practical method to mitigate this is to use glass that can prevent UV radiation. DG display showcases use high-performance, safe, laminated glass with an anti-UV rate of up to 99%, or low-reflective glass, which has a transparency rate of over 92%. This not only effectively prevents UV radiation but also provides a clear and transparent display effect for viewers.

Additionally, artificial lighting is also a concern as ordinary artificial lighting can generate heat that accelerates the aging of cultural relics. To address this issue, DG display showcases are equipped with professional museum lighting devices that use cold light sources, are free from UV radiation, have low power consumption, high light utilization efficiency, long lifespan, and excellent lighting effects. Moreover, new light sources such as fiber optic LEDs are introduced, and lighting fixtures with diverse structures are developed. Depending on the specific characteristics of the cultural relics, various lighting effects such as spotlights, floodlights, and wall washers are employed using track or embedded lighting methods, to meet the diverse exhibition requirements of museums with a professional attitude.

3. Requirements for materials and their compatibility with cultural relics
This mainly refers to the use of environmentally-friendly materials in the manufacturing of museum display cases, which do not produce harmful gases that can damage cultural relics. We have previously mentioned this point in our article "How to Choose Museum Display Cases? What Should You Pay Attention To?" Here, we would like to add that in addition to being environmentally-friendly, the materials used in display cases should also have moisture-proof, fire-proof, and anti-insect properties, and must pass relevant tests or certifications before being used in museums. Since its establishment, DG display showcase has been strictly controlling the materials and production process. Durability, safety, operability, environmental-friendliness, lighting control performance, and environmental control performance are the key factors supporting our product manufacturing and technical research and development. We are committed to providing safe and reliable, highly flexible display carriers for various cultural institutions.
